On Christmas Eve we called Pimlico plumbers to repair our Boiler central heating. They were very polite on the phone or their website and ready to fix the problem without any hidden charges. The engineer came to our house and spent an hour and charged us £220. Couldn’t diagnose or repair it. He told us another £1000 bill and no guarantee to fix the problem. We paid £220 to just see his face. We were without heating and hot water next 5 days. We had an appointment with British Gas on Tuesday 27th Dec earliest. Be aware that Pimlico operates with a rather unique approach to follow up services. A) They provide zero guarantees to the work they do and B) they will continue to charge you until the problem is fixed. Appreciate there’s some trial and error in this, but I’m now worse off with a completely off balance system and that’s after them spending 3 hours at my house and £450 already spent.

£400 to install a dishwasher. There was a lot of time wasted getting parts for what, it is safe to assume, is a pretty regular ask. When I booked I checked with the person on the phone that the parts would be on the van as it’s an hourly charge… I was told they should so went ahead with the booking. This happened a while ago now but sometimes I still think about it. Don’t use them if you can help it…

I needed a new gas boiler supplied and installed, shower return valves/thermostats investigated for a cold and hot water mixing problem and my radiators power flushed. George Debenham carried out this work for me and did a fantastic job. The job was estimated at three days but took five because of various unforeseen issues. However they honoured our fixed price agreement and the job was not rushed and was done properly. Great job George!

Critical: Professionalism
Very disappointed with Pimlico’s customer service, especially given the incredibly high price they charge. One of their engineers broke a tap in our bathroom while undertaking works and Pimlico have refused to accept responsibility for this, instead accusing us of lying. Will not use or recommend in future.

Easy to book. Available at short notice. When booked in advance they actually call you if they have someone available close by on an earlier day. Guys are professional and they do their job swiftly without trying to make the time go over and charge extra time. They are clean, efficient and know their stuff. In the past I used handymen at cheaper rate but they would always try to make sure they had to go back to the van 3 times for something or other so that the job would take longer. None of this happens with Pimlico. I am a very happy customer!

Pimlico serviced our boiler (which they installed just over two years ago) on Thursday afternoon. On Saturday the boiler broke. Pimlico sent an engineer on Sunday to repair it - a simple adjustment to water pressure that took less than 15 minutes. We were then charged, and charged Sunday rates, for the repair of an issue clearly resulting from the service. Their refusal to take responsibility is shortsighted and unethical. Poor service to long-term loyal customers. Beware.

Agreed a fixed price for a major job replacing pipes - paid 50% upfront. At the end of the job they said it was only an estimate. There is no such thing as fixed price work at PP. They can add 20% to all 'estimates'. Estimates are not quotes, even if negotiated in advance and agreed in writing. Check their terms and conditions word for word. Their terms allow them to add extra charges for labour and materials without notice. Avoid !

Avoid at all costs. I had a toilet that needed a simple part replaced. The plumber lied to me multiple times and tried to charge me over £885 to fix a toilet!!!
- he lied about the parts he bought, charging me for a part that was never used, this I managed to prove when I eventually got him to send a picture of the receipt (clearly showing a random part).
- he lied and overcharged me for the time he was away from the flat getting the parts. This was only refunded once I got hold of the vehicle tracking to prove I was overcharged.
- I was double charged VAT on the parts used and the part that

I initially asked for a full boiler check up before leaving the country for a few months. It was expensive (circa £230) but i felt happy leaving given a "guarantee that the boiler was in full working order". Warning!! Do NOT use Pimlico Plumbers. Charged an additional hour by dishonest engineer who offered our tenant to 'use up' the prepaid hour then overran by 20 minutes and then charged a full further hour for work unauthorized by me- AND 40 minutes of that was described as 'putting tools in his van and writing up invoice'!! £150 an hour plus vat for putting tools away and writing up an invoice?! UNBELIEVABLE. Not to mention the fact the engineer then charged me two full hours despite telling the tenant he knew we had already repaid one hour and my confirming it over the phone

Very good service! They are pricey, but they are doing an excellent work.
I had a problem with the boiler (there was no hot water) and the engineer promptly fixed it on a Sunday morning. He also explained the cause for some other heating related issues in my apartment which was very helpful.
Also when calling them to visit my flat I didn't have to listen to music and/or speak to a robot for XX minutes before talking to a human. I immediately spoke to an operator which was great because I hate wasting my time waiting on the phone.

When we move house, we started out very pleased to see such a professional-seeming plumbing service in our area. Our first visit from them was prompt and pleasant. The charge seemed high, but our problem appeared to be resolved. Over the years, we have had several emergencies, which have necessitated calling Pimlico, who have always been happy to oblige, though have always over-charged in our view.
Unfortunately, the work they have done for us has turned out to be of very poor quality, with many breakdowns, replacements - always with inferior products which haven't lasted - further breakdowns

We had an issue with our drains in the kitchen and called Pimlico as we had used them before and they were aware of the situation and advised us to have the initial kitchen plumbing installation rectified. The first visit seemed fine but after a few days, the drainage backed up and we had a flooded kitchen. We called Pimlico again to rectify it which they did, but at such poor standard that it backed up again. We ended up paying £522 over two visits, without really progressing the issue, beyond a stop-gap fix in the first half-hour.
Make sure you monitor the time spent on their activities. A pattern emerged of repeat visits to the van, and not bringing the invoice. Given the minimum callout fee there is always going to be a bill so why can they not carry an invoice with them, for example?
And beware the 'policies' on the website sound very positive but they are contradicted by the

Superb and an absolute pleasure to deal with! Nobody likes paying money for household maintenance and chores, especially when one is totally beholden to what a technical engineer advises. Initially I had someone from Pimlico out to service an existing dishwasher and they recommended that I get a new machine because they didn't know what was causing a leak. At no time was anything mentioned about the machine being hardwired electrically. This cost £114.

Called them for help on a malfunctioning dishwasher early on a Saturday morning. The very friendly chap on the phone promised a plumber between 8am and 9am but advised that, if it was a fault in the machine, we'd need a technical engineer to fix that. We agreed to have one of each come around, with the engineer set for 11am to 2pm...so we would have time to cancel if the plumber sorted it out.
At 0800 sharp Ben G. from Pimlico was at the door, by 0810 he'd determined the H2O supply was OK and we'd need a specialist for the washer. Since

With this company I think a lot depends on the skill of the individual plumber who calls. They are expensive but their charges are upfront and the first time I used them the plumber expertly found and repaired a pin-hole in a pipe under our floorboards so we didn't mind paying. The 2nd time we had a leak a different plumber couldn't find the source but still charged £240 for less than 1 hours work (it was a call-out in the early hours) and initially booked himself to come back the next morning to begin lifting all our floorboards to find the leak. I've used Pimlico three times now, to service my boiler, and to replace my electric shower unit. They're expensive, but you get what you pay for with their professional service. Want an 8am appointment? No problem. They don't give you the runaround with the "some time between 8am and 2pm" malarkey that you get from other firms, and when Pimlico's guys arrive, they don't start begging you for money for the parking meter / resident's permit.

I use Pimlico Plumbers all the time in my home for things like plumbing, electrical repairs, etc., etc., and while they are not cheap, you get a high quality service from non-smoking, punctual, professional chaps who do the job and don't mess you about. I've used them about a dozen times and only had one guy one time I wasn't happy about (he took twice as long as I expected, spent a lot of time on his phone, and was way too chatty and familiar with me). I know they probably don't need any further exposure seeing as their 100+ years old marathon running employee Buster keeps them in the news a lot but they really do offer a great service. Yes, they may be on the more expensive side of things but what you get is prompt service from polite employees who really know their stuff and who clean up after themselves. I plumped for them in an emergency and I didn't regret it and have used them since and recommended them to friends and my place of work.
