Here at JC plastering & lime we offer a two coat lime putty heritage fine plaster, which we can apply over exciting lime plaster or lime render, this will achieve an fine breathable finish. A fine lime skim finish coat is then applied when backing coats are fully dry and cured. This breathable system can be applied to both lath and masonry backgrounds.

Insulating Ecocork

It was decided that the hard cement render should be removed and replaced with an insulating lime render made with cork as the aggregate. Secil ecoCORK is free from cement, it is lightweight and offers extra insulation value to a building that has a poor Lambda value being made from subsoil. When the cement render was hacked off, it was clear that the walls had been kept very wet due to the wrong materials being used.

Silicate paints were first patented in Germany in the late 19th century. King Ludwig I wanted to copy Italian frescos but found that lime plaster couldn't withstand the harsh climate. He asked his scientists to develop a paint that looked like lime, but was more durable. Like limewash, silicate paint works by soaking into the underlying material.
