The Downham Garden Centre is a family owned and run business, established by John Emmerson in 1970. It is currently run by Simon Emmerson along with his staff Carl, David, Amy, Ollie & Josh. Here at the Downham Garden Centre we offer a wide range of high quality products for your home and garden.
We have a large canopy area to the back of the building which currently houses a variety of plants, pots, aquatic equipment, ornaments, fencing and much more.We also stock hard landscaping supplies such as: concrete, various types of gravel and sand, ballast, posts and slabs.
In store we keep stock of grass seed, wild bird feed, bird tables, animal care products, lawn care products, compost, gardening tools and any other gardening accessory you could think of.If we don't have the item you are looking for we will always try our best to get it for you, just ask! We also have a wide variety of bird treats available if you feel like treating the birds to something other than seeds. We have a beautiful range of high quality, well built bird tables available in store now. The Tom Chambers bird tables have all been handcrafted and many of these feature a genuine hand cut slate roof. This is guaranteed to make a great focal point to your garden. The natural food supply is usually lowest in winter and spring, so this is when the garden birds will reap the most benefits from food being left on your bird table.
Frozen Animal Food

Our frozen meat blocks are great source of nutrients for dogs and they are most importantly made with quality fresh ingredients. We stock a large range of foods to cater for most if not all fish and their eating habits, as well as the time of year. We stock 3 main brands, Tetra, NishiKoi and MediKoi. Wheatgerm is ideal for autumn feeding before fish cease feeding and also spring feeding when they come out of their winter fast.

Not the most enjoyable experience for lunch in a garden centre.
We needed to call over staff to order as our table showed that we had ordered food.
One dish came up as requested, the 2nd was sent back to be toasted as ordered.
We didn't have any cutlery so requested that too.
However, one of the waitresses was very responsive, she sorted all and then deducted my sandwich which was appreciated.
Cheese and onion sandwich thick slices of raw onion, catering cheese as no flavour. Chicken bacon and mayonnaise apparently no flavour and cardboard like texture. Disappointing.
