Realising that it is easier to make these choices in the comfort of your own home, I arrive with a fantastic array of designer fabric books. Time is spent getting to know you - your lifestyle, taste and budget. From a simple linen Roman Blind to more elaborate curtains and pelmets, I will happily give advice and work with you to achieve the perfect look for your home.
This gorgeous drawing room in a brand new house in Midhurst was a blank grey canvas. We chose curtains in beautiful embroidered Sanderson Angelique, this gave some gorgeous colours to work with and the flat padded pelmets really show off the fabric. Colefax wool and linen stripes were used to recover the sofas and chairs.
I love looking at clients artwork, whether from Children's nursery painting to valuable paintings it is great to try and incorporate them into the scheme. This lovely lady was the main point of interest in this otherwise rather bland hallway and Romo Black Kansai Velvet Curtains really worked well with her.
In this beautiful new home in Midhurst, West Sussex with lots of tall windows, pelmets and curtains was definitely the best option so we decided to have some fun with them. Choosing stunning fabrics from the Jane Churchill Atmosphere Collections and less expensive co-ordinating plains for the curtains, this was a more economical way to use great fabrics which in no way compromised the style and final finish.

Mel has been creating and making curtains and blinds for our home/s over many years - her creativity and skill ensures that each time we have asked she has produced fabulously high quality dressings for our windows that lasted the test of time and the chaos of family life. Whenever we have sold and moved - which is a bit of a hobby - the curtains/blinds seem to always stay with the house because the new owners have loved them too....that should be testament enough!!!

Mel never ceases to come up trumps!! I have been using her services for years. She always listens and interprets my thoughts, however sketchy, with outstanding results; adding an attention to detail not often found.
I have recommended her to many people so the only downside from my point of view now is remembering to plan ahead because she is so busy. Look no further!!

I cannot recommend Mel and the team at Melanie Downing Interiors highly enough. She recently solved a window dressing problem I had been grappling with since moving to a new house several years ago. Her creative solution was then executed with excellence and I now have beautiful blinds and curtains which have transformed the space. She previously provided curtains and blinds for two other rooms which have well and truly stood the test of time and remain beautiful several years on. I have no concept of how someone has awarded only one star here. They are either a competitor or lost. Take no notice. We have used Mel for many years and have always been delighted by the level of service, her cheerfulness and ultimately the quality of her work. Only recently she has worked with us on a refurbishment and the results are stunning. Looks like everyone else agrees too. Can’t recommend her highly enough.

Several years ago, Melanie made for me very beautifully finished Roman blinds for four windows, so a few months ago, after seeing on the internet what fabrics are available and not finding anything that would finish the look of my newly refurbished kitchen, I contacted Melanie. She immediately suggested a fabric I liked these few years ago but didn’t chose. I was very impressed with her memory and the suggestion of choice. The Roman blinds and matching round cushions with lovely contrasting piping were made as promised before Christmas 2020 and have considerably contributed to the final look

Mel has made beautiful velvet curtains for my bedroom, a blind for my spare bedroom and curtains and blinds for my kitchen. The whole experience with Mel was excellent. She has a great eye and really helped me to chose the right style and fabrics. Mel was professional and her and her team delivered everything quickly and efficiently. Everything they have made is very high quality and looks amazing. I won't hesitate to use Mel again next time I need new blinds/curtains.
