Wall Tie Replacement
Report
Since the advent of the cavity wall, it's been standard building regulation to install a wall tie. The ties job is to ensure when the building moves, both the inner and outer leaf (wall) flex and move together. Like anything however, over time the ties can break and snap, wall tie failure can lead to cracking in the render and that can lead to water ingress.
Wet Rot
Report
Different to dry rot and much less destructive, wet rot is normally found where there has been a leak or water ingress. It's important to treat it as soon as possible as with the right dank humid conditions, wet rot can become dry rot. Dry rot is much worse and requires extensive treatment, wet rot can usually be treated in situ, with less effort.
Dry Rot
Report
Although called dry rot, it can only survive if moisture is present. More often than not leaks, dampness, lack of ventilation and water ingress due to building defects is the cause.in the right conditions, dank and humid areas such as sub floors dry rot can form, and spread very quickly and needs to be treated asap.
Woodworm
Report
Although known as woodworm the insect is actually a beetle, there are 4 types here in the UK with the common furniture beetle being the most common, hence the name! The beetle will lay eggs so soft it migrates into the wood, from there larvae forms and chews its way to the surface, the larvae which looks like a small maggot will then hatch into the beetle which flys off looking to lay more eggs and keep the cycle going.
