We are an independent garden centre based in the pretty village of Carnon Downs just south of Truro on the A39 Falmouth road. We are a family run business and have a second garden centre called Blackdown Garden Centre in West Buckland, near Wellington in Somerset. This is conveniently located on the A38 just a couple of miles off junction 26 of the M5.

Propagators – The must have purchase this month
Report
If you want to raise your own plants from seed, an electrically heated propagator is a must. In fact, it only uses as much electricity as a light bulb, yet it allows you to produce all your own tomato plants, as well as many veg and bedding plants. Stand the propagator on a windowsill or table close to a window where it gets good light but won't be in strong midday sun later in the spring (which will cook everything inside).
Plant Pests & Diseases
Report
Great battles are fought every day as gardeners strive to protect their precious crops, while a multitude of garden pests and diseases seek to destroy them! Pest and disease control presents a huge challenge for the gardener, and identifying the cause of the damage is often the hardest part! Those sneaky garden beasties don't always show themselves, so how do you know whether your plants were eaten by a slug or a squirrel?
What is Mycorrhizal fungi & Why do your plants need it
Report
Mycorrhizal fungi are a remarkable group of organisms that have been benefiting plants for at least 500 million years. At the dawn of time when plants were just beginning to colonise our planet mycorrhizal fungi were there living in a symbiotic relationship with plants enabling them to extract nutrients and hold onto water in very difficult soil conditions.
10 Easy ways to help bees in your garden
Report
With bees in trouble, our gardens are vital fast-food takeaways for bees and other beneficial bugs. As well as serving up a varied menu of plants they provide the shelter and nesting places that bees also need. It's a sad commentary on the declining state of nature that our gardens are proving to be better habitat for bees than our countryside.

For the UK gardener, developing a tropical garden can seem an Olympic-sized challenge. But, tropical plants can be surprisingly hardy. Plus, you can grow many of them in pots that you can bring inside during the colder winter months. Here's how to create your own tropical paradise. A sheltered spot that is sunny and frost-free will give you a head start.

A real shame!
We often come here, and have always loved it, it's a wonderful garden center, with good food and normally good service..
Unfortunately today (new years eve) we where serverd by a tall man in the cafe, in a hoodie with dark curly hair who.. was simply very rude.
As well as being rude, we watched him "clearing tables" next to us, if you can call it that..
While covid still going on, we watched him take the trays and plates and push with a cloth all the "bits" onto the floor, no spraying or disinfection of the tables or chairs that where... sticky and filthy.

This is the first time I've visited for a few years, but used to go every year to do some Christmas shopping, however after today's experience, I will not be returning. Lunch was very poor, not well presented and you didn't get much for the price you pay. Upon exit we had an item to pay for, only to be met with the sight of a two-year-old using a portable potty right in front of the checkouts. There's no excuse for this when toilets are provided. Very disappointed. Very embarrassing for the staff.

At this time of the year ( end October) plants were not at their best,of course . But the Centre was very well stocked with a wide range of garden pots and other household goods.
Gents toilets unfortunately left much to be desired with a broken soap dispenser left lying in a wash basin and water leaking across the floor from the WC cistern. The Information Desk was manned by a staff member with a less than welcoming manner.
