Having existed on the site for over 30 years. Alison took over in 2010 and has overseen extensive renovations, clearing condemned old green houses, installing large polytunnels, and refurbishing the site. We grow some shrubs and perennials, and the vast majority of all our stock is UK grown. We carefully select growers to work with, often specialists in their field.

We grow many shrubs and perennials on site in our huge polytunnel. Of the outdoor plants we don't grow ourselves the vast majority are British grown. We have forged excellent relationships with our growing partners who know what we are looking for. We source from specialist growers which is more time consuming than going to a one stop shop but it ensures quality plants grown by people with a passion.

Do you need some help selecting the right plants for your garden? Perhaps some areas need a little more interest, or there's a tricky border that never looks quite right. Rowan Garden Centre Owner Alison Pao is qualified and experienced in Garden and Planting Design. Alison will visit your garden, discuss your planting requirements and later meet you at Rowan to show you what plants might work.

Whether you are treating yourself or a friend we have beautiful gifts to suit all budgets. For gardeners we have posh gloves, secateurs, tools and of course wonderful plants. For garden admirers there are outdoor lamps, candles and made up pots. For the home there are ceramics, including locally made Jane Hogben mugs and jugs.

I love visiting Rowan garden centre. I am fairly new to gardening so always have lost of basic questions. The staff are really polite and always helpful with advice as well as serving the customer. The plants are well looked after and very nicely displayed and organised. A real pleasure visiting Rowan. End up spending too much as really good quality plants here. Let's hope the ones I have planted grow in the summer!

Fantastic little gem of a place great selection of plants and accessories, and the Cafe is 5**** great fresh food to suit all tastes, the cakes are divine, and very pleasant and helpful staff, high recommend you visit this place! Been again since covid lock down, Still fantastic food, the BLT was the best one I have ever tasted, that smokey bacon was just amazing !
