Our outdoor plant area offers a wide selection of hardy plants sourced from local growers to ensure they thrive in regional gardens. Regular deliveries during spring and summer guarantee fresh, seasonal stock. Expert staff provide advice on plant care and garden design.
Garden Pots
We stock glazed, terracotta, fibreclay, and plastic pots in diverse styles and sizes to suit any garden aesthetic. The range includes durable, lightweight options and decorative seasonal collections. Our staff assist in selecting pots that complement both plants and outdoor spaces.
Coffee Shop
The coffee shop serves homemade meals, cakes, and sandwiches using locally sourced ingredients, including bread from a nearby bakery and coffee roasted regionally. Open daily from 9 AM to 4 PM, it offers indoor and outdoor dining. The menu emphasizes fresh, seasonal produce and traditional recipes.
Garden Care

What are your opening hours?
We are open daily from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, including weekends and bank holidays.
Do you offer online ordering for plants?
Currently, we recommend visiting our garden centre for plant purchases to ensure quality selection and expert advice.
Are pets allowed on-site?
Well-behaved dogs are welcome in the garden centre and outdoor coffee shop area, provided they are kept on a lead.
Do you host events or workshops?
We occasionally run seasonal gardening workshops and family-friendly events, advertised on our website and social media.
Can I return unused garden products?
Unused items in original condition can be returned within 14 days of purchase with a receipt.
Is there parking available?

Really good steak pie for lunch served in the coffee shop. The garden centre has a variety of plants, gifts, etc. Christmas displays outstanding

We have been to Thaxters many times & the cafe is always a first stop. They do excellent light lunches, great pastries and cakes and have a good selection of drinks. The garden centre itself always has something to offer and we never leave without making a purchase or two. I suggest a pre Christmas visit because they have a lovely display and a grotto with a great Father Christmas for your grandchildren to take delight in. Thaxters is a wonderful local garden centre that always has something a bit different to offer & we'll worth visiting even for those just holidaying in the area.

First visit during the week, second on Sunday for lunch and it certainly won't be the last!!! Coffee and cakes mid week were superb and Sunday lunch was just as good - thank you Thaxters!! My sister and brother in law were staying with us and they were highly delighted with both food and service . We will be back very soon!!

Lovely place to visit, though things are a little expensive. But you do get, mostly, better quality plants than other (cheaper) garden centres. Staff are friendly and willing to offer any help and advice possible. Somewhere I went with my nan as a child and it will always hold special memories. Nice place to take your family for a meal at the adjoining restaurant too

Had breakfast this morning, we reserved our seats, just in case, were seated quickly, our freshly cooked food arrived in good time. Delicious as expected. Great food, service and thoroughly enjoyed. Perfect place to stop for a break. The garden centre is well stocked and the staff are very knowledgeable and friendly. Plenty of parking. All in all well worth a visit followed by a lovely cup of tea.
