Plants are at the centre of what we do. We pride ourselves in selling the best quality plants at very competitive prices. We grow a lot of our own plants as well as buying predominantly from local East Anglia suppliers. We have a wealth of experience and knowledge about plants and gardening in the local area - and we are always happy to give advice.
Sturmer Nurseries is a member of the Horticultural Trades Association. Complete with double slide, fireman's pole, climbing wall and a cracking view from the top! With the coming of autumn, we will be stocking all sorts of fresh new plants including wallflowers, cyclamen, chrysanthemums, conifers and heathers.
There's plenty of autumn colour including pansies and violas. Packs of winter vegetables - like cabbage, broccoli, lettuce, broad beans, etc - will now be available for outdoor planting. Our new tree stock is now in. Autumn is the best time for planting trees as it allows time for them to make some root development before winter, so they are then ready to flourish in spring.

The site had previously been used for growing salad crops like tomatoes and peppers but was in poor condition with dilapidated Victorian glasshouses which were demolished to create space for the outside sales area. Marilyn decides to retire with son-in-law Robert Mason joining the partnership after a career in journalism.

A really super collection of plants. No particular bargains but for an independent nursery this is a plants-persons delight. Most plants have a very comprehensive explanation card and the varieties are good. Rarely does one see prunus shirofugan on display waiting to be bought for example except at Wisley.

A lovely nursery, with a very helpful, down to earth approach. Robert and the team offer well cared for plants and they are always friendly (the team not the plants). The prices are reasonable for the quality and, over a number of years, they have been investing in improving the experience for all of us to enjoy. It gets better every year, and it's a treat to visit regularly again. Can't wait till it's safe to have something in the cafe again too.
